How Teachers Shape Young Minds

School contributes a lot to the development of young kids. Since kids spend a lot of time with their peers and teachers inside the school, it is imperative for teachers to be the best example for young kids and to see to it that they are developing the proper emotional and mental skills they needed when they grow up. It is very important that teachers handle each kid according to his background in order to better understand their needs or personality. A kid’s behavior tells a lot about themselves. Hence, a simple silent moment spent by a kid sitting on a school carpet would reveal how that kid wants to spend his time alone. Every teacher should take this as an opportunity to better understand their students.

Helping kids develop a healthy attitude while in school is as important as teaching them the basics of alphabet and counting numbers. Having a healthy attitude contributes to a higher learning for the kids because they could control their emotions better and has a positive attitude to their environment. Instead of playing alone while sitting on a school carpet, kids with healthy attitudes would go and seek other kids and interact with them.  As the teacher, you could create group activities that would bond kids with the other kids and make this an opportunity to create interaction among kids.

It is also important that you become direct to the kids in teaching them what the correct attitudes are. You could talk to them in groups and tell them stories that show the proper behavior and positive conduct. You could interact with them and show what the proper act in every situation is. You become the role model of these kids as they look up to you. But you also have to give them the opportunity to express their thoughts and opinions. You can do these during your activities such as coloring and sit with them on the school carpet. This way, you create a bond with them and make them closer to you.

Be approachable at all times. Show that you exhibit positive attitudes in all circumstances. Help them on making their schoolwork but make sure that you emphasize their responsibility and discipline in all school activities. Be their friend and parent while inside the school. Understand the situation of each child and be sensitive for possible problems that he might be going through such as family pressures or lack of love from parents. By being sensitive to their needs and feelings, you are actually showing them a positive attitude that they should adopt. If you see a kid being left alone by his playmates at the room sitting alone on the school carpet, there is a possibility that he was having problem on communicating with them.

Of course, be watchful on their academic performance. A balanced student must be able to do his academics well and at the same time form bond with his peers. As a teacher, it is your responsibility that they are actually getting the basic education even though they sit most of the time playing on the school carpet. Make a list of your goals for your class and try to achieve it. Focus on the mental and emotional development of the kids in order to rear balanced kids.

On your school room carpets your child can play with Construction Toys.
