A
good carpet for kids is indeed an exciting thing to have around
in the classroom. Teachers know how crucial it is to be able to
decorate the classroom in such a way that will encourage kids to
learn and not get bored during classes.
But classroom carpet or classroom
carpet squares are not entirely for decoration purposes only. It
is a great visual tool that can be used to teach kids about the
alphabet, shapes and counting. There are even carpets that have
map prints that will acquaint kids about geography and biblical
rugs that will tell stories that are based on the testaments in
the bible.
For more fun learning, classroom
carpets can also be utilized for learning games. For example, kids
can play geography trivia with geographical rugs. As the teacher
asks questions like “In what state is the Statue of Liberty
located?” and then the students will stand on the part of
the carpet that holds the answers. The teacher can ask all sorts
of trivia about American history, geography, state capitals, landmarks
and many more. This is an exciting game that kids will have fun
playing while learning.
Classroom carpet squares with
its interlocking feature can also be used to build things for amusing
building games. Let the kid students engage in a build the tallest
or most creative tower game. This is especially good for enhancing
physical dexterity and both gross and fine motor skills.
Imaginative pretend plays
are also fun games to play with classroom carpets. With the wide
variety of carpet themes to choose from, kids would be able to use
this for a vast array of role playing situations that they could
think of. Whether it’s a pretend play in the farm with the
Signs of the Farm Kids Educational Rug or imagining to be in the
circus with the Circus Elephant Parade - Children's Rug, these plays
will certainly elicit giggles from these little ones as their creative
imaginations are being honed.
Another fun activity for classroom
carpet or classroom carpet squares is the magical carpet ride. Just
like in the pretend play, the key here is the use of imagination.
The teacher can gather her students to sit on the carpet, close
their eyes, and then imagine as if they’re flying to visit
places. For example, with the Planetary Playtime Carpet the teacher
can take her students to a trip outer space with their teacher as
their space tour guide.
The teacher should vividly
describe the scene so that the students won’t have a hard
time imagining. For example, she can say, “Now we’re
approaching Saturn and viewing its marvelous and colourful rings.
Ooops! Watch out for that meteorite!” This is a very stimulating
and thrilling game that kids will love while they learn about the
different heavenly bodies.
Now who said classroom learning is boring? With these classroom
carpets learning is always fun and enjoyable.
